Triangles
Types of Triangle
Triangles, as I'm sure you know, are three sided, 2D shapes. There are 4 different types, as illustrated on the left; there is an equilateral, an isosceles, a right angled and a scalene triangle. all of them have there own properties, some that can be figured out by their name, some that are not so easy to figure out.
Equilateral triangles are triangles that have equal everything! The sides are equal and the angles are equal too. This is the property that this triangle has.
Isosceles triangles have two equal sides and two equal angles as well. The two sides opposite each other are equal, shown by the two lines, and the two angles that are the same are at the bottom.
Right angled triangles are triangles with a right angle! This is the property that a right angled triangle has.
A scalene triangle has no equal sides or angles. It is the weird triangle!!

area of a triangle
To find the area of a triangle you have to use the formula
1/2bxh
(half base times height)
EXAMPLE:
A triangle has a base of 8cm and a height of 10cm. What is the area?
Firstly, you would half the base, which would give you a length of 4cm, the you would times the height and base together which would proceed to give you 40cm SQUARED since we are working with area.
